Outlook: Employment of accounants and auditors is expected to increase 22 percent over the 2008-18 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Pay: The 15,340 accountants and auditors in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area earned a median wage of $61,190 in 2008.
The job: Accountants and auditors provide information to clients by preparing, analyzing and verifying financial documents. An increase in the number of businesses, changing financial laws and corporate governance regulations, and increased accountability for protecting an organization’s stakeholders will drive job growth.
Training/licensing: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is the minimum education required.
