What do you do? My main job is lead trainer/cycling instructor at Flywheel Sports in South Lake Union. I am also a cycling coach for Team Survivor NW, a life coach with Seattle Life Coach, a Lululemon ambassador and a bike guide with Bicycle Adventures.

How did you get started? I’ve always been interested in creating a lifestyle around cycling/coaching/instructing. I’ve always ridden my bike to stay in shape. In 2003, I started teaching indoor classes; soon after, everything starting falling into place. Every job I held after that was around cycling: bike shops, racing, organizing group rides, guiding and coaching for both indoor/outdoor cycling.

What’s a typical day like? Start times vary. Many days, I have the opportunity to sleep in, but my body is up early, and it’s off to work out, ride or take/teach a class. You have one body, and it’s meant to move, so I move. I love the freedom my bike gives me.

What’s the best part of your job? That I absolutely love what I do, therefore, it does not feel like work.

What surprises people about your job? That I can actually make a living on my bike. I am so blessed. It has been 10 years in the making, and I’ll be honest, there were times when I almost gave up on the dream. I am so happy that I stuck with it.
