Human resources specialists attract, motivate and retain qualified employees
Outlook: Employment of human resources, training and labor relations specialists is expected to increase 22 percent over the 2008-18 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Pay: The 5,560 specialists in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area earned a median wage of $61,570 in 2008.
The job: Specialists work to attract, motivate and retain qualified employees for companies. Within the field, branches include training and development, employee benefits managers, employment interviewers, recruitment specialists and labor-relations managers.
Training/licensing: Many entry-level positions require a bachelor’s degree with a major in human resources or industrial and labor relations.
