My First Job: Ladd Smith

Ladd Smith

Now: Company owner

Then: Busboy

Current position: Co-owner of Bothell-based In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes

First job: I supported a waitstaff in a large and very busy restaurant in Reno, Nev. I was 14 years old.

What I learned: The importance of taking individual responsibility seriously. For things to work smoothly in a restaurant it is the individual's responsibility to be there or make sure your shift was covered. I consider it my job every day to make sure that our company was ready for our people to come to work, that our people have all the tools and information they need to take care of our customers.
