My First Job: Pete Lewis
|
Now: Mayor of Auburn
Then: Paperboy
Current position: Managing partner for CFO Selections, a finance consulting and recruiting firm
First job: My first job was as a paper boy in Cupertino, Calif. I had a morning paper route before school. I delivered papers on my bike.
What I learned: I learned to be self-reliant through that job. It didn't matter if it was raining, hot or cold. It didn't matter if you had a cold or were aching from a football practice. People expected their papers to be delivered, on time and right at their front door. In addition, delivering their paper on time was the minimum expected, and you could not expect to be praised for doing your job right.
