My First Job: Renee Smiley
|
Current position: Assistant manager, Les Schwab Tire Centers. The job includes assessing the needs of customers and auto dealerships, installing and repairing a wide variety of tires, and providing brake, front-end and suspension repairs. Also responsible for staffing, managing the crew and performance evaluations.
First job: Sales and administration in the Les Schwab Tire Center store in Spanaway, Pierce County. Started out greeting customers and filling out work orders. Also administered payroll, accounts receivable, ran credit applications and handled collections.
How I got the job: I was 19 and working in a Brown Bear car wash. One of our main customers was a Les Schwab Tire Center manager. One day he asked me how would I like to work for Les Schwab. He told me I was helpful and friendly and that the company was always looking for people with a great customer-service attitude.
What I learned: The Les Schwab Way. That means knowing that the customer is our No. 1 priority. I also learned the importance of being positive. If you have a good attitude, things fall into place and you have a repeat customer.
