Network and computer systems administrators design and support computer systems
Outlook: Employment of network and computer systems administrators is expected to increase 30 percent over the 2008-18 decade, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Pay: The 7,260 network and computer system administrators in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area earned a median wage of $74,910 in 2008.
The job: These professionals design, install and support an organization’s computer systems. They gather data to evaluate a system’s performance, identify user needs and determine system and network requirements.
Training/licensing: A bachelor’s degree is often required, but an associate’s degree or professional certification, along with work experience, may be adequate.
