Ready for your close-up? Employment of models is on the rise
Outlook: Employment of models is expected to increase 16 percent over the 2008-18 decade, faster than the average for all occupations.
Pay: The 50 models in the Seattle-Bellevue-Tacoma area earned a median wage of $28,090 in 2008.
The job: Models create public interest in buying products by displaying clothing, accessories or other items in a variety of media. Models work closely with photographers, hair and clothing stylists, makeup artists and clients to produce a desired look.
Training/licensing: Some models opt to attend modeling school, where agents scout for fresh faces. Education beyond high school usually is not required.
