Seattle Storm emcee Shellie Hart entertains on Key Arena's court during breaks in Storm games. (Neil Enns / Storm Basketball)
What do you do? I am the on-court entertainment emcee for our two-time WNBA Championship team, the Seattle Storm.
How did you get started? Since the tip-off of the first season in 2000, I volunteered when I could to emcee, then eventually they brought me in for all home games. I’m a radio personality with a loud voice of support for the team and the mentorship it offers young players. The whole experience is a blast!
What’s a typical day like? Report in two hours prior to "go" time to review in-game activities, entertainment, special features and my scripts -- which I mostly glance at and ad-lib, LOL! It's more fun to be spontaneous. :)
What’s the best part of the job? Engaging with Storm fans! The kids, families, season ticket holders and the self-titled Storm Crazies ... all are incredibly passionate and dedicated to the team. I am the fan of the Storm fan.
What surprises people about the job? Hmmm, I would have to say the surprise is with those who attend their first Storm game and find themselves so engaged with all that we do. [There’s] tons of interaction between all including fans, Matt Pitman (arena voice), Eva (my little buddy) and Doppler, the best mascot in the WNBA. It’s more than a game, it’s a loud celebration of Seattle Storm basketball. Lucky me!

I am very proud of you & what you do. You are an inspiration to all. When I see you on FB it makes me smile. I have never been to a Storm game, but hopefully will someday.
Love,
