What This Job Pays: baker
Pay: The average pay for a baker in the Seattle area is $10.33 an hour, with most making from about $8 to $12 an hour, according to PayScale, a Seattle company that tracks compensation and benefits.
Demand: While high-volume production equipment limits the demand for bakers in manufacturing, overall employment is expected to increase about as fast as average due to growing numbers of large wholesale bakers in stores, specialty shops and traditional bakeries, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In addition to the growing numbers of cookie, muffin and cinnamon-roll bakeries, the numbers of specialty bread and bagel shops have been increasing.
