What This Job Pays: dishwasher

Pay: Dishwashers earn an average of $8.64 an hour in Seattle, with most making $7.93 to $9.44 an hour. Nationally, most dishwashers earn from minimum wage up to about $10 an hour.

Demand: Most jobs are part-time so many opportunities exist for young people — about one-fourth of these workers were 16 to 19 years old, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Job openings are expected to be abundant in the coming years because many of these workers transfer to other occupations or stop working, creating numerous openings.
