Need to know: Employment opportunities are expected to grow more slowly than average, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, reflecting stronger growth in nonmanufacturing industries. Work areas may be noisy, and many workers may have to sit or stand for long periods. A high-school diploma is preferred for most positions, but specialized training is required for some jobs.
