Demand: Overall, the employment of aircraft pilots is projected to increase about as fast as average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Demand for air travel is expected to grow along with the population and the economy.
Need to know: Many pilots start as flight instructors, building up their flying hours while they earn money teaching.
