Interviewing seminars that are not to be missed
NWjobs
I hope all of you Hire Ground readers had a chance to relax for a few days and reflect on the freedoms we enjoy in this country over Memorial Day. Though the summer weather beckoned, the film geek inside me took over and I spent much of the weekend devouring the first few days of the Seattle International Film Festival. Those three weeks of cinematic fun sure go by quickly!
But now we're into the new work week, so it's time to roll up those sleeves and dive back into the full-time work of searching for a job. Fortunately, there are several upcoming events in the next 10 days that will help you hone your networking skills and give you some pointers about interviewing:
ProLango Seminars - Redmond-based career coach and business psychology expert Paul Anderson is hosting two free seminars this week about job searching in the digital age. On Wed., May 27, he is offering Career Search Seminar 2.0, titled "How to Stand Out in Today's Crowded Market." In this hour-long event, he will discuss common mistakes to avoid, tips for using social networks and ways to find jobs that are not posted publicly. Then, on Thurs., May 28, he will host the Psychology of Interviewing seminar, which will show you how to overcome the jitters and use psychological techniques to gain advantage with hiring managers. For registration information, visit the ProLango Consulting site.
Strategic Job Search Workshops - On Fri., May 29, North Seattle Community College is hosting a 90-minute Job Interview Preparation seminar designed to provide answers to commonly asked interview questions and teach you how to present yourself in a memorable way. Then, on Fri., June 5, test your presentation skills with a Mock Interview seminar that will allow you to practice your 60-second commercial in a realistic facsimile of job interview and give you feedback from interviewing experts. To register, call 206-527-7656 or send an e-mail to sekijima@sccd.ctc.edu.
Bellevue Career Fair - On Mon., June 1, bring along your resume and work samples to the Red Lion Bellevue Inn for a free, three-hour job fair with dozens of local employers across several job sectors. To receive a full list of employers that will be in attendance, visit the registration page at National Career Fairs.
Job Seeker Seminars - For a fun, interesting and highly informative examination of the job search process, sign up for one of three two-hour seminars offered by employment and communication specialist Rod Mattson on Wed., June 3 at the Best Western Emerald Suites Hotel in Federal Way. Topics to be covered will include Internet search tips, pre-interview research advice, cover letter and resume writing, and interviewing strategies. For registration information, visit Mattson Communication's Web site.
As always, for more upcoming events, be sure to check out the NWJobs Events Calendar.

Thanks Randy!
You helped us pack a great room. We've been averaging 30 - 40 people per seminar (Resume Writing, Career Search, and Psychology of Interviewing) and currently host them twice a month.
Seattle Times also featured us (small blurb ;-) on the Sunday paper and that was very helpful in getting the word out.
Our goal is to help 1,000,000 families become employed in 12-weeks or less. This is our 2-year goal so we have until 2011 to reach this. You're helping make that possible.
Thank You!
