Before I get into the list of upcoming job search events, I want to give a shout out to the attendees of today's Job Club at the WorkSource office on the North Seattle Community College campus. I had a great time meeting with those who showed up to hear me talk this morning about networking tips, pocket resumes, online job search and resume advice. While I was there, I learned a lot about services offered by the state's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and hope my comments were halfway as helpful as counselor Julie Zander was accommodating. I look forward to seeing the group again in the future.
Now, onward. Over the next few days there are a few FREE networking seminars and workshops that can help you expand your job-search connections--and also give you an excuse to spend a few productive hours during this steamy week in a blessedly air-conditioned environment.
Wed., July 29 -- This is your last chance to take advantage of Rod Mattson's generous offer to Hire Ground readers for FREE admission (a $40 value) to his resume workshop, Nobody Can Write Your Resume Better Than You. The two-hour workshop, held at the Federal Way Best Western, will show you how to customize your resume to suit the needs of various clients and list your accomplishment statements in a way that will get hiring managers to sit up and take notice. The workshop will be held three times--10 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.--to fit your schedule. Seats are still available, so contact Mattson Communication Training for registration information.
Sat., Aug. 1 - Xanthus Communications will break with tradition and hold its next PRforPeople-Seattle seminar at the Whispering Wind Ranch, a film production studio in the Cascade foothills near Monroe. From 2 to 6 p.m., take a tour of the facility with media producer Michael Kostov and network with other entrepreneurs and job seekers. This free event will feature a barbecue and an Olympic-size swimming pool to help cool your jets after this crazy week of 90-degree temps. For more information and driving directions, contact Patricia Vaccarino at patricia@xanthuscom.com.
Mon., Aug. 3 - ProLango is holding its next Career Mixer at Parlor Billiards & Spirits in Bellevue's Lincoln Square. The last ProLango mixer drew more than 200 attendees and 15 companies. This Monday, from 6 to 9 p.m., the theme of the event will be LinkedIn and will include tips about how to get the most out of your online profile. Also included at the event will be four pool tables reserved at no charge, happy hour drink specials all night and two $10 discount comedy tickets for future Parlor Live events. To register, visit the ProLango Web site.

Thank you Randy for getting the word out. We have 300+ attendees already registered and at capacity. We'll let another 10% register in case others fall out due to change of plans.
We hope to see you there.

Just wanted to comment on Rod Mattson's resume workshop that I attended yesterday.
I was able to come away with some great information and was shown why my current resume hasn't worked so far. I am looking forward to revamping and getting it noticed. Rod also gave me some great job search tips which I am anxious to try.
Thanks again for the heads up and thanks to Rod for offering this to job seekers!

Oops, left out the word, "welcome," in the last post. I meant to say "Job seekers with disabilities are always welcome at our Job Club on Tuesdays, 10-11 a.m., at the Worksource at N. Seattle Community College."
