Five events to boost your social networking skills

February is the shortest month of the year, but it's no less packed with networking events. I hope everyone enjoyed their vitamin D boost from this surprisingly sunny weekend. Now let's get back to work on that job search with these social and educational opportunities through the rest of this week.

Tues., Feb. 23 -- Bellevue Job Fair. Meet dozens of local employers face to face at this free Eastside event. Be sure to bring many resumes and dress for success, but if you pre-register on the website you can upload your resume to the event database, which is available to recruiters. Where: Red Lion Hotel, Bellevue. When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost: Free.

Wed., Feb. 24 -- Managing Your Social Capital Like a Pro. This latest event sponsored by Lesa Keller's Job Seeker Network features a discussion with career coach Matt Youngquist of Career Horizons about maintaining a network of personal and professional relationships. Youngquist will teach attendees how to set up a formal network management process to drive more effective results. Where: Bellevue Library. When: 5:45 to 9:45 p m. Cost: Free, but RSVP requested.

Wed., Feb. 24 -- Social Games Seattle. This new networking event is designed to attract the region's top game developers, publishers, innovators and decision makers for an evening of discussion and strategizing about opportunities in the interactive media sector. More than 300 gaming industry workers are expected to attend the event, subtitled "How to Properly Monetize Your Social Game." Food and open bar included. Where: King Cat Theater, Seattle. When: 6 to 9 p.m. Cost: $40 in advance; $50 at door.

Thurs., Feb. 25 -- Job Fair Seattle. Sponsored by Nationwide Job Fairs, this event in Tukwila will feature companies with job openings in the fields of energy, technology, education, government, health care, entertainment, services, retail, nonprofit, manufacturing and others. Pre-register online to forward your resume to all participating companies and schedule interviews in advance. Where: Best Western Rivers Edge, Tukwila. When: 1 to 5 p.m. Cost: Free.

Fri., Feb., 26 -- Meet the Business Journal. One of the best ways to stay in touch with potential employers is to keep up with the latest business events, and the Puget Sound Business Journal is one of the region's best resources. This continental breakfast will be a chance to network with the editorial staff and discuss some of today's hiring trends. Where: The Harbor Club, Seattle. When: 7:30 to 9 a.m. Cost: $25 per person; $94 for event plus one-year subscription.
