NWjobs
For this week's roundup of networking and job-search events, I'm pleased to announce a new entry into the regular stable of weekly and monthly offerings. Joe Perez, a professional resume consultant and CEO of Writing Wolf, is holding a new job club meeting this Thursday to meet with other job seekers and discuss new strategies
"If it's a success, or if I hear that there's demand for meetings like this, it could be the first of many," Perez said. See details about the lunchtime meeting below.
Meanwhile, here are a few events this week to help you bone up on your job-hunting skills.
Wed., Mar. 10 - Veteran Job Fair. In cooperation with Pierce County Vets, this Tacoma job fair returns to the South Sound to support the HireVetsFirst campaign, which primarily serves veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who are seeking employment. The event is open to all veterans, their families and the public. Where: AMVETS Post 1, Tacoma. When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost: Free.
Wed., Mar 10 - Resume Search Optimization. ProLango's free job-search seminars return this month to Seattle with this 90-minute workshop that dissects resume myths that are holding you back from getting interviews. Thurs., Mar. 11 - Job Seeker's Strategy Sharpening. Job search expert Joe Perez has been writing resumes in Seattle since 2004 and has recently expanded his service offerings to include one-on-one job search coaching. To introduce himself to the local job-search community, he is launching his first "job club" get-together to discuss networking skills needed in today's tough employment market. Where: Office Nomads, Capitol Hill. When: Noon to 1 p.m. Cost: Free, but seating is limited to the first 12 people who RSVP.
Fri., Mar. 12 - Advanced Interviewing. ProLango's seminars continue this week with a presentation that analyzes the different decision-making styles of hiring managers.
