Moneytree
Money may not actually grow on trees, but perhaps benefits do at this provider of check cashing, payday loans and retail financial services. The full health coverage, with no premiums or co-pays for the employee, is only the beginning. Spouses and children can be added at a low premium, and additional kids can join at no extra cost. The fully-funded retirement plan, one employee tells us, is "like getting free money" -- the company contributes to it whether the employee does or not. They deliver on educational benefits as well, providing up to $2,000 a year for both full- and part-time workers for college tuition reimbursement.
In the last several years, Moneytree (our "Favorite Large Seattle-area Company as well) has even added new benefits based on the requests of its staff spread across five Western states. It has extended the medical coverage to include massage therapy, naturopathy, acupuncture and smoking cessation. Even in a down economy, this company continues to find new ways to make the benefits tree grow.
