Sure, Apollo and Klunker, the waiting room kitties at this Lake City animal hospital, are about as pampered as office cats get. But it's the countless other pets whose lives have been saved or made better by Seattle's only 24-hour specialty emergency facility for pets that make this the most pet-friendly winner this year. From pocket pets to birds, dogs, lizards and even a pet skunk, this is the one place where the area's pets have access to a team of veterinarians with specialties ranging from radiology and internal medicine to surgery and intensive care. To provide the best emergency care possible, the hospital even started its own animal blood bank in 2005. They also go the distance for less fortunate pets, donating services to the Seattle Humane Society and Seattle Animal Shelter, and have established a reserve fund for owners who can't afford care, so they never have to turn a furry, feathered, scaly or stinky friend away.
